Put on all the armor that God gives you, so that you will be able to stand up against the Devil’s evil tricks.
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭11‬ ‭

When I think about a soldier with his full armor on, I picture someone ready to engage in battle. A warrior ready to fight. Another time where I have seen soldiers fully dressed, but not for battle is a soldier’s or other officer’s funeral. Those for the gun solute are also dressed in uniform. While in Greece, I had the opportunity to see the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldiers.

Their movements are so purposeful, and such significance of detail. I admit I knew little about this honoring tradition. I found this article that explains more.

What strikes me in the passage is that we put on the full armor just to stand against the tricks of the enemy. Tricks are not a battle. Tricks are generally one sided, and for God that is how He sees Satan’s actions as tricks.

How often are we building up the attacks of the enemy to be more than just a trick? We often engage in a battle when it’s really just a trick to distract us from the work before us. We need to get His view of the struggles we face.

The armor of God is God’s strength upon us. He knows the tricks of the enemy. We just need to stand, trusting Him completely.
