Bless the Lord

Bless the Lord, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.” Psalms‬ ‭103:1-5‬

bāraḵ – Bless

God wants us to bless Him and bless others. The greatest command is to love Him and love others.

Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, “Which is the first commandment of all?” Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.  And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:28-31

Why shouldn’t I bless Him when I consider all He has done for me?

He forgave my sin, all of them!

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us oursins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

He heals my body, mind, soul, and spirit!

He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

He saved me from an eternal life and hell.

““For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭‬‬

He loves me.

May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.” ‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭‬‬

He is a God of mercy.

The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail.”
‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:22‬ ‭‬‬

Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews‬ ‭4:16‬ ‭‬‬

He blesses me with every good thing.

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.” James‬ ‭1:17‬ ‭‬‬

He renews me.

He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,”. Titus‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭‬‬

Eagles change their feathers when they are young. God changes what I look like also. I can bless God with my words but I think he wants my obedience to His Word. Bless is a verb, so it takes actions to bless Him.

Prayer – How can I bless you today Lord? I want to be a blessing to you today and always, for you are always a blessing to me. Show me ways I can bless you each day.
