Fear Not

Do not be afraid—I am with you! I am your God—let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41‬:‭10‬

Loneliness as descibed by Psychology Today as “a state of distress or discomfort that results when one perceives a gap between one’s desires for social connection and actual experiences of it.” Through prayer we can look to God for some social connection. He tells us that we don’t have to fear, He is with us. He is as real as the person sitting next to us. We can listen to Him speak to our heart, we can also read His Words to us through the Bible. There is peace when we enter into His presence and
no room for fear.

When we chose to turn to God, we can leave fear at the door. We can know that He is withus. He is bigger than any problem we face, He is God. He will strengthen us. He knows our weakness and He empowers us to do what He has called us to do.

He strengthens us to endure the trials we face. He helps us. A lot of times His help comes in the form of human hands. Other times, His help comes in the form of divine wisdom. We can learn things from others, but God can also teach us things. He also upholds us or supports us when we or others start to question our calling, our abilities in Him.

This is something that God has been revealing to me over the past few days. I admit I probably question my callings and abilities more than others do. I don’t question that I have unique talents and skills given to me by God. I often question the calling attached to that because I used to be a bold person, but I drew that attention to myself. I don’t want that attention any. more. I don’t want to worry if my old nature is creeping up or if I am really
being bold for God.

I find myself wanting to shrink back even as I feel the nudge to just step out. I want to be behind the scenes, I don’t want the spotlight.
I find myself starting strong and then fading, instead of allowing God to uphold me, support me. I need to press in instead of backing up because He is my God. He is with me. He has strengthened me for His calling on my life. I can trust He has the help I need available to fulfill His call on my life. I just need to let Him.

Lord, I hear your voice. I hear You calling
I know You are near. I know You are
asking me to trust You more, to step up for
You instead of stepping back. I cling to You
Help me not to fear but to rely on Your
power, Your presence and Your plan. I want to obey.
