If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. John 15:7
Asking it’s hard for me. It is something God has been speaking to me about, asking for what I need or want. I grew up feeling that what I wanted or needed was unimportant and inconvenient. I learned to manipulate to get what I wanted instead of asking. It has been a hard habit to break.

Yet, God tells me to ask what I desire. God first asks us to abide in him period to let his words abide in us. That is a condition that must be met before we ask. I know too often in my life I have asked for things from God without first abiding in him.
Abide – Lexicon :: Strong’s G3306 – menō -equivalent to not to depart, not to leave, to continue to be present: something has established itself permanently within my soul, and always exerts its power in me
So I have to make a decision to not depart from God, to not leave Him. I have to let His word establish itself in my life. That is a beautiful picture. I can see how He can make the promise. If I keep up my end, I will ask an alignment with His will. My request won’t be for personal gain but for Kingdom purpose. I can stand on His promise. When I left the power of His word exert itself in my request.
Prayer – Lord, I love you and I do want to make bold request because I abide in You. Your word abides in me and I want to ask in line with Your will. Help me father God to abide in You. Help me to ask for what I need. Help me to ask for your will to be done, boldly, without reservation knowing that You are a God of His Word!
