Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17
Freedom or liberty are available to us through Holy Spirit. Oxford dictionary defines liberty as the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views or the power or scope to act as one pleases.
Lexicon :: Strong’s G1657 – eleutheria liberty to do or to omit things having no relationship to salvation; freedom from the dominion of corrupt desires, so that we do by the free impulse of the soul what the will of God requires
Wherever Holy Spirit is allowed, there is freedom.
I realize the areas of my life where I am not experiencing freedom, based on those definitions, I must question “I am keeping Holy Spirit from those parts of my life?”. When I hold back from allowing Holy Spirit access to my life in certain areas because of fear, insecurity, desire for control, or any other reason, I am taking authority. In that authority, I am being oppressed by self-imposed restrictions in my life. I am essentially giving up freedom that is available in Him.
Let that sink in.
