Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope: and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:3-5
Many translations translate perseverance as endurance. We rejoice not in the suffering but in the hope that comes from knowing God’s love and His Spirit within us. We can press through difficult times; as we do, they shape our character. Difficult times help us to become all that God created us to be. Everything He created us for and planned for us, those tough times refine us much more than the easy times. I know I am not who I am suppose to be yet, but every day my hope grows that I am becoming the person God already knows me to be.
Prayer – Lord, I admit, I don’t like going through suffering. I can see and know that it does have a purpose. I know that those times I have endured faithfully through, I have come closer to You. Those difficult times have shaped me in ways I would have never thought as I was walking through them. I have see You use those times, for Your glory and honor. I thank You for knowing that regardless of what I am facing, You love me; Holy Spirit is there guiding me through. I love You Father, and I do want to become all that You created me to be.
