Enduring with Harmony

Now the God of perseverance and of encouragement grant you to be of the same mind one with another according to Christ Jesus, that with one accord you may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭15:5-6‬

Praise and worship is one of my favorite corporate moments. For a bit we are all in harmony together. Yes, there are a few missed notes or wrong words sung but we’re in unity, singing glory to God. Even when I’m in my personal time listening and singing along with the radio, I am in unity with the person singing and likely with others all across the area who are listening and singing too.

I also feel like praise and worship changes the environment. It helps us to endure situations that otherwise bring us down. God can do so much when His people are in one accord.

I think back to the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11:6 ends “and nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.” The Babylonians were not acting to glorify God but they were acting in one accord. When I consider that, I question why His body is not standing more unified in accord with Jesus Christ, knowing that for Him nothing is impossible.

I also know that when I am weak, standing with others encourages me. It helps me to endure. The enemy tries to convince me to isolate when I’m feeling down, but living in harmony with others is what God calls us to do.

God, You want Your children to be in harmony with each other. You want us to be in one accord with Jesus. You want us to be in one voice to give glory to you. We have been a little off in this area. Forgive us, Lord unify us once again. Bring us back into unity with You so that we can stand as one voice giving you glory.
