Don’t Hibernate

God did not design us to remain inactive, to hibernate in the world around us; He created us to step out. He did not design us to stay, but to go.

We are called to go into our prayer closets. We can accomplish more in five minutes in prayer than all our efforts combined. “But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.Matthew‬ ‭6:6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

We are called to go and make disciples. We are called to further the Kingdom of God, by sharing Him with others and baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We can not make disciples if we are hibernating. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”. Matthew‬ ‭28:19‬ ‭ESV‬‬

We are called to go with those who needs us. If someone needs us to go one mile, then we should be willing to go twice as far as they need us. That is a pretty big task when you try to hibernate. “And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.” Matthew‬ ‭5:41‬ ‭ESV‬‬

We are never called to be inactive. They only time we are called to stay, is awake. We need to be alert for when God returns, we can not be awake and hibernate at the same time.

Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.” Matthew‬ ‭24:42‬ ‭ESV‬‬

And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.”Mark‬ ‭13:37‬ ‭ESV‬‬

As Christians we need to go into prayer. We need to go make disciples. We need to go walk alongside others that are in need. We can not go inactive. We need to stay awake and alert. Don’t hibernate, step out.

  1. Amen 🙏🏿. There is a time and a season for everything. We must continue to rise up and pray. God longs to hear from us but we must stay in constant communication with Him. Thank you for this reminder. God bless you.

  2. This is a true statement, Jackie, “We are called to go into our prayer closets. We can accomplish more in five minutes in prayer than all our efforts combined.”
