Seek First

“But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.” Luke‬ ‭12:31‬ ‭

The Scriptures before talk about the things we seek in life food, clothing, adding time to our life, being anxious and worried.

“Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds? And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. Luke‬ ‭12:22-30‬ ‭‬‬

God will provide if we just let Him. We are His workmanship.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭‬‬

He takes care of the ravens, the lilies, the grass. He will take care of us also.

As I sit here journaling, I hear the birds chirping outside. Carefree yet they do work to build their nest and gather food. I rarely hear birds in an angry or aggressive tone. Yet, so often I stay in the defensive mode, even if it’s only in my head. I need to get out of my head and just seek the Lord. He will take care of me better than I ever could.

Prayer – Lord, I want to seek You. I want to let my life be a display of Your work in me and through me. Let me seek You first. Let me serve You first. Let me love You first. Let me give You my resources first. I need You first and foremost in my life. Show me Lord what You would have me to do. I am listening.
