As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11
A special gift – Strong’s G5486 – charisma -a gift of grace; a favor which one receives without any merit of his own; in the technical Pauline sense denote “extraordinary powers, distinguishing certain Christians and enabling them to serve the church of Christ, the reception of which is due to the power of divine grace operating in their souls by the Holy Spirit”
Steward – Strong’s G3623 – oikonomos – Metaphorically, the apostles and other Christian teachers are called stewards of the secret will of God, as those to whom the counsels of God have been committed to be made known to men: any and every Christian who rightly uses the gifts entrusted to him by God for the good of his brethren, belongs to the class called good stewards of the various grace of God
speaking utterances – Strong’s G3051 – logion – spoken of the words or utterances of God:of the utterances of God through Christian teachers
the strength – Strong’s G2479 – ischys – of one’s strength, to the extent of one’s ability
supplies – Strong’s G5524 – chorēgeō – to supply, furnish abundantly:
Every person has been given a special gift by God’s Grace. This gift is for God’s glory, for us to serve and steward. Gifts are given by God and it is God who gives the words to speak, and the strength to do what He has entrusted to us. He supplies abundantly everything we need to use the gifts He has given.
Lord, help me to use all that You have given me for Your glory and honor. Help me to steward well and use all my strength for You.
