Waiting on Him

Listen to instruction and be wise,
And do not neglect it.
Blessed is the person who listens to me,
Watching daily at my gates,
Waiting at my doorposts.
For one who finds me finds life,
And obtains favor from the Lord.
Proverbs 8:33-35

Listening to God, waiting on Him takes discipline. It is easy to read the Word and to get instructions from godly council, because it gives us something to act upon. A sense that we have some control, that we are doing something. But listening, watching, and waiting on God takes more discipline.

Although it is an active stance, sometimes it means standing still, waiting for Him to say “Come” or “Go”. Doing it with a good attitude can be even more difficult. When we are able to do this, we find the abundant life that Christ died for us to have. We will find favor in Him also for He blesses a disciplined life.

Lord, I thank You for helping me to develop a more disciplined life. I know there are still areas I need Your help in and times I get off track. I am learning to wait on You.
