Repent and Receive

Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.“ ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭38‬

‭‬‬I didn’t learn as a child about the gift of Holy Spirit. I knew Holy Spirit was part of the Trinity, and He had specific roles in the life of a believer. As a denomination, the church I grew up in did not really talk about receiving Holy Spirit. Water Baptism was taught and practiced, asking for forgiveness of sins was taught, but nothing about receiving the gift of Holy Spirit. It wasn’t until I was about seventeen that I actually received the gift of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues. I admit I still don’t have a deep understanding of Holy Spirit, despite many studies. I’ve just received too many conflicting messages about Him throughout my life.

I started this year praying to understand more of the person of Holy Spirit. I know I have the gift of Holy Spirit in my life, I just want more of Him. I believe that there is more of Him that I can experience in my life. I repent when He brings something to my mind that is not pleasing to Him, I recognize it as sin I need forgiveness from. I have been baptized. I want to experience all the fullness of Holy Spirit in my life.

Lord thank You for salvation. Thank You for forgiveness of my sins. Thank You for baptism in water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as I publicly declared my relationship with You. And thank You for the gift of Holy Spirit. Let me know You more!
