“And he said to them all, “If you want to come with me, you must forget yourself, take up your cross every day, and follow me. For if you want to save your own life, you will lose it, but if you lose your life for my sake, you will save it.” Luke 9:23-24

Forgetting myself
Is what You are asking of me.
Routine and schedule control me.
The structure of routine
At times, leave me exhausted.
Keeps me from the quality of time
I desire with Him.
I stay in You Word,
More out of habit
Skipping deep studies
I enjoy feasting on with You.
My prayers are short and specific
Tarrying in Your presence
Not wanting it to end
Has escaped me of late.
It is not suppose to be about me
What is convenient
Isn’t what You ask of me.
Is It is suppose to be
About time with You,
Something I say I desire.
Abiding in You
Is not a cross I carry,
It is a joy I have.
I want to get lost in Your presence,
Not be at a loss of Your presence.
I want to serve
From the overflow
Not yesteryears’ left overs.
I come to You now Lord
Help me to forget myself
Deny myself
I take up the cross
Of service to You
Of service for You
Of service through You
Where You lead
I will follow
I give You my schedule
My calendar
My to do list
You are my priority
I give my life for Your sake
And You alone.
