What Faith Can Do

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭1‬-‭2‬

Faith leads to justification, peace, grace and hope. These are traits that we should allow to lead our Christian walk. Things that we should not allow the enemy or the world to take from us, or the flesh to deceive us about.

Justification is defined by Lexicon :: Strong’s G1344 – dikaioō – to judge, declare, pronounce, righteous and therefore acceptable, those who put faith in Christ and determined by God to be righteous and acceptable to Him, and accordingly fit to receive the pardon of their sins and eternal life. If God has seen fit to pardon me from my sins, I should not try to pick them back up or carry the weight of them now. He has justified me by my faith. Christ pi’s the ultimate price to pardon me from my sins.

It is because of my faith in this complete pardon, I can live in peace. Lexicon :: Strong’s G1515 – eirēnē defines peace as the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and content with its earthly lot, of whatsoever sort that is: used of those who, assured of salvation, tranquilly await the return of Christ and the transformation of all things which will accompany that event. Peace is not just for the time after Christ’s return, it is meant for us to walk in while we wait, regardless of what we face.

Faith allows us to live in grace. Lexicon :: Strong’s G5485 – charis defines grace as the spiritual condition of one governed by the power of divine grace (the free unmerited favor of God and the bestowing of blessings). As children of God, adopted into His family, we receive His grace, His favor in our lives. I am inclined to believe the more we become aware of His grace, the more we walk in it.

Lastly faith allows us to rejoice in hope. Lexicon :: Strong’s G1680 – elpis defines hope as expectation of good, hope; and in the Christian sense, joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation. Our hope is in the glory of God. Our faith lived for Him brings further glory to Him.

Faith has many benefits. It is not just a standalone factor in Christian walk. It is a belief followed by action that results in justification by God. Faith allows us to live in peace even in the midst of the chaos of the world. Faith allows us to walk in the favor of the Lord. We can rejoice in knowing our life will bring glory to the Lord.

Prayer – Lord, I thank You that my faith is grounded in You. I thank You that because of Christ’s sacrifice I am justified. I thank You for the peace that surpasses all understanding that Holy Spirit provides me with. I thank You for the unmerited favor that You allow me to walk in as Your daughter. I rejoice in the hope that my life walked in obedient faith will bring you glory. In Jesus name. Amen.
