Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8

Thoughts are powerful things. They can propel us forward. Or they can keep us trapped. Thoughts can help us be in a positive emotional state or a negative one. God wants us to move forward in the positive. This scripture predates positive psychology. We can start to change things as we focus on the truth from this scriptures. We can look to te characteristics of God because He fits all these things. {raise and Worship is another tool because many songs combine scripture and the attributes of God. We can challenge our thoughts by asking if they are one of these things – true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy. If they are, we can meditate on them! If not we need to take them captive and change that stinking thinking.

Prayer – Lord, it is easy for me to get into negative thought cycles. Help me to keep my focus on things that You tell me to meditate on. Help me to align my thoughts with Your Word, Your character, and to spend time praising and worshipping You!
