Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you.
Yes, I will help you.
Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10
Fear, loneliness, weakness, neediness, and depression. God is there and available in all of it if we will just turn to Him. We have to acknowledge His presence. He is always with us. We have to be willing to accept Him as the answer.
Yesterday the Pastor David preached “Who is this Jesus to you?” It was about that personal relationship we have with Jesus. He can be and is many things, but who do I allow Him to be in my life. Do I let Him calm my fears? Do I let Him minister to me when I am feeling alone? Do I let Him be my peace in the storm of dismay? Do I let Him strengthen me in my weakness? Will I turn and ask Him for help? Will I let Him hold and comfort me even when I don’t feel I deserve it? He is willing to be there, through it all.
Today as I was reading the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32 it struck me that one son had a works based mentality. The other following his return had an “I’m not worthy mentality.” Both mentalities kept them from being able to see themselves as their father did – loved and treasured sons.
I think both mentalities often come in and taint my relationship with Christ. They keep me from allowing God to be all He wants to be in my life. They are lies from the enemy that keep me from receiving who God wants me to see Him as in my life. When I let down those mentalities, Christ will minister His character in my life as I need. He is willing to be all things to me.
Lord I thank You for the message preached yesterday, reminded me that You want to be what I need. The fact is You already are. You are available if I will receive You. Lord reveal Yourself to me in a new way today. I know You as my Savior, Healer, Comforter, Counselor, Provider, Protector, Defender and Lord. You as my Peace, Love and Father. I want to know You more.
