Pay

knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. 1 Peter 1:18-19

It is said that the value of something is based on what someone will pay for it.

I was not bought with silver or gold that would be slavery.

I was not bought at a cheap price for service, that would be prostitution.

I was bought with a precious blood of Jesus Christ.

I was redeemed, freed, liberated.

The price was paid regardless of what I chose.

That is freedom.

He paid the price to give me freedom, to choose if I wanted relationship with Him or not.

People who pay ransom want a guarantee; it might be for safety or for whatever to be returned. We see the movies where they pay the $1,000,000 all the while trying to catch the person asking for it.

Jesus defeated Satan and still willingly paid the cost. He did it with no guarantee that we would accept Him.

That is love.

That is a high cost to pay. It shows our value to God for Him to give His Son for us.
