The mind of man plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9
I spend a lot of time planning, often even more than it takes to do the activity. God made my heart to like a plan, but too often it is in stepping out that gets me. I have to direct my face towards God in a moral and spiritual sense to the steps God has for me; but, I can’t keep focused on my plan and hope to end up with God’s results.
Those steps require action in order to set a course for my life. I recently heard it said “God can’t direct a stationary object”. I can’t expect to get where God wants me to go if I am not stepping out. He can’t direct me if I’m not moving. He might point me in the right direction, but I have to go! I have to get out of my own way and go where God wants me to be. I have to keep my face on him!
Lord, I know I’ve been stationary longer than You or I intended. I know my value is not based on works but I also know You have created me for good works that will bring You glory. Help me to follow Your plans for my life even if at times I’m misstep. Show me Lord what You have for me today!
