“So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves.” And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!””
Matthew 27:24-25 ESV
I have read this passage before, the commentary today mentioned that this passage has been used to justify the slaughter of the Jews. Maybe it has been, but could it also be a prophetic word? That one day the Jews will accept Christ as Savior and His righteous blood will cover them?
Christ died for the Jews that crucified Him, although not all will accept Him as Lord and Savior, maybe some of the very people who crucified Him recognized Christ was the Messiah.
