Sacrificial Love

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

I often don’t feel very loving when I’m not being treated like I want to be treated, even to those I love the most. If my husband has been a jerk to me, I would rather give him the cold shoulder than give him sacrificial love. But I have been called to live as Christ, to love like Him and He loved me while I was still a sinner. It wasn’t like we romanced Him and won His heart before He chose the cross. He didn’t have anything but the love of the Father and He gave that up to reconcile me back to Him.

Lord, help me to love sacrificially like You.
