For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:14
I have never really taken time to get to know my neighbors. I mean really know them since I was a kid. I’ve made plans to, but I never have reached out. Even if I extended “neighbors” to people, like at church, I have failed to love.
I’ve learned to love myself. God blessed me with people in my life who love me well. I have learned to lean into God, to rest, to set boundaries, and to give myself grace. I do those things well with strangers also. Outside of my family though, I have not loved others well. I have not let others get as close to me as needed to love others, as I love myself. I have let the wall down some, but certainly not to neighbors.
Lord, I know I can but show me ways to love my neighbors, to develop relationships that will honor you.
