Promises

They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat;  for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” Revelations 7:16-17

The day will come when the Lamb of God shepherds us to springs of living water. I think about that picture and think about how massive the springs will be for all of us to gather around and drink. I love water so that idea excites me! I love the refreshing feel of the cool water. I love the sound of water flowing.

I think of the pleas I see on television and online for food and clean water; how frequently in our society these basic needs go unmet. Yet, God promises no more hunger. God promises no more thirst. We will all be satisfied in Him.

I also think about all the people I have served that are grieved and sorrowful. There will one day be no more tears. I don’t know how God will do that. I often contemplate the people who are lost that are part of my life now who may chose not to follow God, I can’t imagine not having sadness and tears not having them with me. However, God promised it; I believe it.

I also picture the warm sun. I love being in the sun, and am glad there will be no scorching heat. I am hopeful there will not be humidity either!

Prayer – Lord, thank You for promises of what is still to come. Help us to do better about feeding the hungry now, both physically and spiritually. Let us help make sure everyone has clean drinking water. Let us be comforting to those who grieve. I know these things are close to Your heart too!
