The Harvest

He who gathers in summer is a prudent son,
but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame.
Proverbs 10:5

The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand and yet what am I really doing to bring in the harvest? I have been asleep, tossing, awake just enough that I have felt I’m doing something. But I’ve grown complacent. I have not been planting seed, watering or harvesting.

Jesus paid the ultimate prize for us to follow Him and be reconciled to God. It will cost us to follow Him. Pastor Curtis mentioned in order to grow we must sacrifice our comfort. We will pay as we give up our will. We will pay as things are cut away from our life that others still partake in. His presence strips away our excuses and brings a peace as we surrender to His will. If God felt we were worth the cost, whatever we pay will pale in comparison to the glory it will bring.

Lord, forgive me for my own complacency. With me for slumbering and shame instead of allowing your presence to go through me to the lost world around me. I have been praying for open eyes that have been unwilling to awake. Thank you Lord for shaking me. Proclaim your kingdom. Work in your harvest.
