Don’t Speak Evil or Deceit

Passage – For “Whoever wants to love life and see good days
must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit,
1 Peter 3:10

Restated in my own words – If you want to love life and have good days don’t speak evil or deceit.

Application to my own life – It’s a novel thought but Jesus is the truth, so anything contrary to the word is deceit. What things do I speak over my life that keep me from loving life and seeing good days could my quiet grumblings be keeping me from the life I want? Am I speaking evil and expecting good?

I know that words have power. They are creative and I am creating life or death with my mouth. Just a few minutes ago my husband and I were talking about a running class at church. He was saying “I’ve smoked for 30 years.” I said “I don’t run, I never have.” Yet I have run from God and His calling and do run the race with God now. I have to choose to not speak that this next 16 weeks.

I can choose to make life changes give my effort to the surrender of Christ. I can run because I can do all things through Christ. I can stop being governed by my appetite because I am surrendered to God. I can stop eating when emotional because I can surrender to God.

Your response back to God – Lord I love that You are showing me new revelations and helping me see where I need to make changes. You are working to open my eyes and confirming all that You are speaking. Thank You.
