Insult or Blessing

Passage – not repaying evil with evil or insult with insult, but, on the contrary, with blessing. For it is to this that you have been called, so that you may receive a blessing. 1 Peter 3:9

Restated in my own words – Christians are not to return evil done to them or insult those who insult us. We are to return those actions against us with blessings so that we can be blessed.

Application in my own life – At times, I have robbed myself of blessing from God by engaging in retaliation. I still at times respond with insult but I have learned either I can defend myself or God can. He won’t do it for me if I defend myself though. I like His way better because then I don’t have to replay the words of my head wishing I had said something different or being filled with regret.

Your response back to God – Lord forgive me for the times when I’ve spoken insults or returned evil back to those who have done me wrong. I pray for blessings on any one that I have done this to. I repent and will bless those who insult and do evil to me. In Jesus name Amen.
