Sincere Love

Passage – Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth, so that you have a sincere love for your brothers, love each other deeply, with all your heart. 1 Peter 1:22

Restated in my own words – Love each other in Christian faith with your whole heart, sincerely because you have been purified through Christ. This is the truth and obey Him.

Application to my own life – It is only out of love for Christ and surrendering to His truth that all other love flows. It is the purified love obediently surrendered to flow through me that I’m able to share with others. Sometimes I fail to let Him flow through me. I fail to surrender to the purity of what He has offered and I’m not very nice.

I also find that another crutch I have is the clinical side. I want to step into the professional mode and just let people know the solution to their ills. My thoughts are in the right place and I mean well, but if those words don’t flow out of obedience to Christ, it is too easy to pollute the interaction. Sometimes God uses wisdom He has given me through education and training, but rarely when it is the first thought that I think of. It is when I see Him that He brings the right words with the right time to express His love for others in a tangible way through me.

Your response to God – Lord, I love You and I thank You for letting Your love flow through me to others. It is a great privilege and I want to continue to be obedient to Your truth and to let Your love flow. Amen.
