Trust and Hope

Passage – Through him you trust in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory; so that your trust and hope are in God. 1 Peter 1:21

Restated in my own words – My trust and hope in God are through Jesus who was raised from the dead and given glory.

Application in my own life – I’ve been doing a study on trusting God instead of trying to please Him. It is through faith we please God. My trust has to be in Jesus. It is interesting that the writer used an example I can relate to about a job. The guy was told not to do something at work by God and then subsequently let go for it.

I remember God telling you to quit my job and although I argued I didn’t listen. Despite being under scrutiny for things I didn’t do, lied about, and offering to step down, I didn’t trust God enough to just quit. The result was I was fired and seeds of insecurity grew.

However I also got a lesson entrusting Him as I walked for three months without a job. I love the time I spent with Him during that time, the closeness I had with Him. Although I love my job, I miss the quantity of time I had with God. I realize I have a choice in how I spend my free time. I need to choose wiser because I know my trust grows the more time I spend with Him.

Your response back to God – Lord, thank You for experiences that have grown my trust in You. I see Your hands move. I see the blessings. I see the lessons in the trials. You are a mighty and awesome God. Lord, help me to continue to grow towards You, through You and in You. I keep my trust in You Lord.
