POD #10: Use Your Words
Here’s the actual prompt. Use your ever-powerful words to speak, weave and write TWO blessings. The first one is a blessing I want you to write and speak over yourself, your life and/or your future. The second is a blessing you’ll write over/about someone else. The someone else might be your dog, your mate, your kidlets or your bestie. It might be our nation or our world.
Extra credit if you can toss in a bonus blessing over someone you don’t particularly ummmmmmm like.
Write a bit about how it feels to be the bestower of blessings.
Blessings to me – I can not believe the struggle I have had with the first part of todays prompt. I have a few life statements that I speak over my life, and a few prayers from scriptures that I speak over myself, but to really think about speaking blessings over myself, I have felt a distinct restriction on the flow of words. I came to the conclusion that speaking blessings over my life feels like gratitude because I truly am already blessed. However there are some truths that I am still awaiting to see some things birthed forth.
I am blessed. I am blessed to be loved and a favorite of my Heavenly Father. I am blessed to be used for His Kingdom purpose with the gifts, talents, abilities and skills that He has given to me. The words of my mouth will be honoring, inspiring and be truth spoken in love. I will serve with compassion and boldness to meet the needs of those who God places in my path, to speak on behalf of those without a voice, and to advocate for causes that I feel called to.
I am blessed to be in a marriage that is unified in the Lord and filled with love that is pure, that suffers long and is kind; a love that does not envy; a love that does not parade itself, and is not puffed up; a love that does not behave rudely, that does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; a love that does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; A love that bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. We walk in unity with each other, every need we have is met. We are blessed to be a blessing to others and are not indebted to anyone.
My family is blessed to serve the Lord, loving Him with their whole heart, soul, and mind. Our footsteps are ordered by the Lord and we are obedient to follow His instructions. The work of our hands will be prosperous and will succeed. We will surround our selves with Godly counsel and be diligent to see God’s will in every area of our lives. Every generation of my family that is living and generations to come will continue in the pursuit of a personal relationship with the Lord. We will grow in relationship with the Lord and with each other. We will walk in the blessings of the Lord and be overtaken by them because we are God’s beloved.
Blessing to others – I believe in the power of words, but know that ultimately it is the Lord that blesses. So for my blessing for others I will share a prayer. I started to pick someone specific, but really whether you are my friend or my enemy I want to see you blessed. So this is my prayer for any person who is open to receiving it.
I pray that the Lord would bless you and keep you. I pray that you would encounter God in a way that draws you deeper into relationship with Him. I pray that you would know who you are in Him and who He truly is. I pray that your eyes would be open to the gifts and talents that God has placed within you and that you will be filled with a boldness to use them for His glory. I pray that the work of your hands will prosper and that you will find fulfillment in your career. I pray that the rest of your head as you lay down would be peaceful and refreshing. I pray that your heart would be filled with love and laughter, that you will have a joy unspeakable all the days of your life. I pray that your family will be surrounded with safety, security, fun and closeness. I pray that your marriage would be one of unity. I pray that your children would walk in the ways of the Lord. I pray that you would be surrounded by godly counsel and friendships that are uplifting. I pray that all your needs will be met and that the desires of your heart will be Godly. I pray that the blessings of the Lord will overtake you as you obey the voice of the Lord. I pray these things in the name of Jesus, knowing that He will answer. Amen.
