Resistance to Trust {#Write31Days}

psalms1438

Yesterday during my workout, things were changed up as the place we normally work out was being used for a swim meet.  Instead we met in the lazy river; it was anything but lazy!  The resistance of the water added to the workout.  We went with the current, against the current, and  backwards in addition to our normal deep water running moves.
As I was working to climb against the current, I thought about how that relates to trust.  So many times we fight against God.  His love is unfailing; yet we doubt that what He is leading us to do is best for us.  Instead of giving ourself to Him and trusting God to show us where to walk, we turn and walk against His path.  We struggle and fight, and yet we look to God asking “Why?”

Out of our resistance to His love, He still teaches us things that develop and strengthen us.  God doesn’t waste anything, even our disobedience.  Our spiritual muscles are developed as we try to do things on our own and eventually realize that our efforts are futile.  We turn back into the ease of the current, going with His flow instead of against it. It may never be easy, but it is better when we give ourselves to Him, walking the path God has for us.  When we trust His unfailing love, He will guide outer journey.
