Oppressed Freed

Scripture – “God saves the fatherless and the poor from the grasp of these oppressors. And so at last the poor have hope, and the fangs of the wicked are broken. Job 5:15-16

Thoughts about what this Scripture means – God promises to save the fatherless and the poor from oppressors. This should give hope that the wicked’s grasp on them will be broken.

Application to my life – I know the application is supposed to be about me, but I am not fatherless and although I am not rich I am not your mind goes to the victims of trafficking as they are poor coming up first, and taken from their famous. Even in the darkness situation, God is the hope. He alone can remove the grasp from the people who are oppressed.

Response back to God – Lord I have a deep burden in this area. I don’t feel called to action other than prayer and learning more about the problem, the needs and the barriers to helping those who have become victims of trafficking. Lord, I see that the quickest way to end trafficking is the deliverance of those who are holding these men, women and children captive. Lord, I pray that those in charge of these rings would have an encounter with You. I pray that You will break the fangs that keep those in captivity oppressed replace in their hearts an agape love that comes from You. Lord, bring healing and restoration, give a new sense of hope to those being held in captivity. Help them to see themselves as You do and to begin the healing journey to wholeness that will be needed as they break free from the lifestyle that has kept them bound. Wrap their hearts and minds, their very soul in Your spirit so that they will be protected from the damage being done to their bodies. Pierce the mind of the capturers with Your convicting power that they may repent and then turn from their evil ways. In Jesus name, let it be done.
