Scripture – Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you. How grateful I am and how I praise the Lord that you are helping me again. I know you have always been anxious to send what you could, but for a while you didn’t have the chance. Philippians 4:9-10
Thoughts about what this scripture means – My God will supply all my needs according to His riches and glory by Christ Jesus.
Application to my life – I have learned God is my provider, not just personally but for the needs of others and for the needs of organization I am involved with personally. God’s riches go beyond the physical and financial. He supplies wisdom, grace, love, forgiveness, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, and patience. The question is, do I go to Him for those things?
Like a kid with his hand out for what he can get, I realize that God doesn’t just want me to come to Him when I am desperate. He wants me to stay connected to Him and allow Him to meet my needs through relationship with Him. God knows what I need better than I do.
Response back to God – Lord, my Jehovah Jirah, thank You for Your provision for me. Not just financially, which is where I usually take the scripture, but You meet every need. You meet my emotional, mental, physical, spiritual, legal, emotional, occupational, and environmental needs. I can look to You to meet my need in every area. Everything I need is found in Jesus.
Today I need your joy, your rest, your heart and compassion. I need your wisdom. Thank You have that You have the financial needs we have met. I asked for this not just for myself but also for the nonprofits I am involved with, for my church family, as well as my coworkers, and my natural family. Let us all learn to rely on you.
