First {#FMFParty}

This year
I have set a goal,
not a new year’s resolution
to put God first.

Sometimes I think
that is what I am doing,
but in reality,
I have still put me first.

It is hard
in such a world
where we are taught
to look out
for number one
to do anything
but that.

However, I realize
When I put God first,
He puts me first.
When I seek Him,
He draws near.

I realize
I can’t do anything
apart from Him.
Yes, I have skills
and talents
I have fallen back on
for many years,
but ultimately
He is the one
who gave them
to me.

I have to stop
doing things
my own way,
and turn it
all
over to Him.

It also means
being obedient
in all things.
Most of all
putting
my trust
in Him.

It is interesting
the ways
He is already
making Himself known
to me
as I submit
to putting
Him first.

I don’t know
why
I have only
talked about it before
and not
really done it.
