Lessons from John 17

Jesus prayed for Himself, the disciples, and the church.

Jesus had His last meal before death with His disciples. He told them of the things to come. Then He prayed.

1. He asked to be glorified and to give the glory back to God
2. We bring glory to God by doing everything He tells us to do.
3. Everything we have is a gift from God.
4. We must accept the commands Jesus gave us.
5. Jesus prayed that we would be kept in the Father’s care.
6. He prayed that we would be united with none missing, just as Christ is with God.
7. He did not ask God to take us out of the world but that He would keep us safe from Satan’s power.
8. He prayed to sanctify us through the truth of the Word.
9. He commanded us to go into the world
10. Jesus wants us to be in one heart and one mind so the world will know Jesus sent us and that the world will know the Father’s love.

We go into the world united in the heart and mind of Christ so that the world will know the love of God.
