Prayer for Government Leaders

Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4

Lord, I lift up the leaders of the United States of America, knowing that all authority comes from You. Forgive us, Lord, when we have stubbornly defied your call to intercession for our nation’s leaders. You desire all of them to be saved and come to know the truth, so we agree with your Word. I pray that our leaders will walk in the authority that You have given to them. Let them walk with integrity and transparency for the people they represent.

I ask for any leader that doesn’t know You, for You would draw them to You, bring them to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, that they may know the Truth. For those who already know You, I pray You will give them a boldness to declare Your Truth and stand up for what is right. I ask for those leaders that are unrepentant to, as the psalmist prayed, to let his days be few and let his be replaced in office (Psalm 109:8).

Lord, this is my request at the national level, the state level, the county level, and the local level. I ask these things for those elected into office and those appointed. In Jesus name. Amen.
