Prayer for Identity

“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬ ‭‬

Heavenly Father, our Creator I recognize at the root of many issues in our nation is a lack of identity. So many people, even Christians, have a God-shaped void in their hearts. Many don’t know Your unconditional love. Many have forgotten or never understood that they are created in Your image with a plan and purpose. Somewhere along the line, we believed the lies about who we are that come from the father of lies, Satan.

Lord, You can do anything, so I intercede for Your sons and daughters, for the lost, help each person to see themselves through Your eyes. Help us to learn our identity comes from You, our Creator. We do not need to be confused about who we are or pretend to be someone other than who You created us to be. We were made to display unique characteristics of our Heavenly Father. Help us to stop hiding our unique characteristics and live them out for Your glory.

Lord, helps every person to remember or learn that our purpose comes from You. We are Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. You prepared those works beforehand, that we should walk in them. Lord, I pray that You would help each person to discover their purpose and walk in it. Help each of us to not conform to the stands of this world, but to walk in Your Spirit in the plans You have designed for us.

Lord, help every person to understand that value came from You, as Your Son Jesus willingly gave His life for us. Help us not to cheapen our value by accepting less than the best You have for us. Help us to see Your value in those around us too. You look beyond circumstances and see the precious blood of Jesus that was shed for all. I pray that every person accept that gift, repent from their sins and walk in the plans and purpose, in the full authority, worthy of Your calling for Your glory! In Jesus name, Amen.
