”It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.“. Isaiah 65:24
Someone recently asked what extravagant love looked like. Often in relationships we look for big, demonstrative gifts. However, after 40 years as a Christian and in a relationship with my husband for 33 years, I have come to see extravagant love is more displayed in the little things.
My response was “Extravagant love is seen in the little things, that only God knows about. When he meets a need or a desire of my heart that only He is aware of, or that I haven’t even voiced.”
Anyone with money can buy flowers, jewelry, or an expensive vacation and while those things may be appreciated, they don’t necessarily equal love. When someone knows you well, they know the things that speak to your heart that no one else knows about. The small things show that they are listening, that they see you, and that they know you.
I have seen God answer before I asked or while I was still speaking; that is extravagant love. I have seen God give me the knowledge before the problem or test came. I have seen God answer while I was still asking. God’s love is extravagant. He knows everything we need, even better than we even do. I also believe that He appreciates our extravagant love back, in the small things we do that acknowledge that we know Him.
