Prayer for the Animals

This weekend, we took a trip to our local animal shelter. My heart broke, even though I am not a big animal person at the sheer number of animals that are surrendered and picked up as strays. We ended up adopting two little brothers, knowing we can change their fate even if we can’t save them all. But for those still there and all the other animals I pray.

Heavenly Father, Creator of every living creature thank You for all the beauty of creation, especially those that You created for our companionship. Lord, there are so many animals in this area that are not taken care of, abandoned, and abused. There are so many animals that are living in a shelter or out on the streets, Lord I pray for homes that love and can provide and care for them. Lord for those who are bein g used for wrong purposes, please expose these things and bring justice for your innocent animals. Lord I pray for resources for those who are struggling to meet the needs of their animals in the current economy, who cherish them but can not afford them anymore. I pray for the community resources that meet the needs of animals, Lord make more people aware of these places so they can meet the needs represented in this area without needing to put animals down, either opening their home or providing funds to help care for and fix these beloved animals. Lord give people wisdom about the commitment required when they take on animals and help them to not enter into this lightly. Lord, take care of your animals just as You take care of Your children. Lord, bless the homes of every person who takes care of Your creation. In Jesus name. Amen
