Today we visited Grace Covenant in North Carolina. Pastor Wilson preached on the weary soul. This prayer is based on that message and how we often get so busy that we need to take time to rest and wait for our souls to catch up with us.
““Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”” Matthew 11:28-30
Heavenly Father, thank You for this beautiful day, the first of September. As we head into Labor Day, help us to find our rest in You. We know that Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light, help us to surrender of will and way to You and take Your yoke upon us. Help us to align the rhythm of our life with Christ and lay down the fast paced, distracted, overwhelming schedules this world tries to keep us tied to.
Lord we know that You order our steps, You will direct our paths, we need only place our trust in You and not try to lean on our own understanding. Lord, help us to look and act more like You to the world around us. Help us to be intentional about getting into Your presence so that we do t miss out on the abundant life Christ died for us to have. In Jesus name, amen
