Examples

Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. 1 Peter 5:1-4

Examples, although it may be a lofty assignment, there is a need for godly leaders, willing to set an example and lead from the Lord instead of man made edicts.

They have to also be voluntary examples, not out of compulsion being examples that lead not just be people who lay down rules. Leaders have followed to be partakers of Christ’s glory because then I too will be led to partake of His glory. We learn from those we submit to so I want to learn from those who follow God best.

Lord, Give me discernment about who I follow as an example. I lift up the men and women I submit to on this earth. I pray You would help each of them to walk worthy of Your calling on their lives, to be eager to serve You willingly, to lead with integrity and walk in Your Word daily. In Jesus name amen
