God’s Glory

Stepping out into the dark

The feel of concrete beneath my shoes

White light begins to shine

Above the mountain range

A solitary bird welcomes the day

With a song perched on the fence

Hidden in the darkness of the dawn.

Turning the corner, the metal on

The dog’s chain clanks with every step

The cool temperature a perfect match

For the beauty of the day.

The rooster crows welcoming the sun

As it peaks above the mountain

The dogs bark as they hear

Another dog close by.

The roar of the motor

Breaks the silent morning as the truck

Heads out for the day.

The birds start to wake

First a lone pigeon making its imitation

Of an owl, soon followed by

The sparrows song of harmony.

The bunny pauses in its tracks

As it sees the dog nearby, then scurries

On its way.

The smell of juniper and sage fill the air

Wild flowers are sprinkled along the path.

The day starts, a beautiful spectacle

Of God’s glory.
