The Righteousness of God

But we who live by the Spirit eagerly wait to receive by faith the righteousness God has promised to us. Galatians 5:5

This verse confuses me as there is another scripture that we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

But I suppose since I see my faults, I have to receive the promise by faith as a promise of God. In order to receive that, I must walk by the Spirit and by faith even when I can’t see it in my life. I have to take God at His Word.

Lord, I thank You for placing in and on me the righteousness of Christ Jesus. Help me to walk in faith by Your Spirit receiving the fullness of this promise.
