The Lord is My Destiny

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I have hope in Him.”
The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
To the person who seeks Him.
It is good that he waits silently
For the salvation of the Lord. Lamentations 3:24-26

Portion – A person’s destiny or lot.

What a beautiful picture. The Lord is my destiny and lot. My soul knows this even when my circumstances say otherwise. I can stand with my hope in the Lord, because He is my portion.

When I remember God is my portion, my destiny, I can easily remember God is good. Regardless of the what the circumstances around me look like, God is still good. I can wait for His goodness to be displayed, knowing if it is not good, He is not finished with what I am walking through.

I believe there is something about waiting quietly. Too often, when things aren’t good we complain. When we are trying to stand in faith, being double-minded isn’t helpful.

For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position; James 1:7-9

Lord, help me to remember You are my portion. My desire is to keep my hope in You. As I wait, help me not to be double minded, let me instead do it quietly or even praising You through the journey. I know You are good and my only salvation.
