And it will be said on that day,
“Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us.
This is the Lord for whom we have waited;
Let’s rejoice and be glad in His salvation.” Isaiah 25:9
Isaiah was prophesying to the people of Israel of a day when they turned back to God and God would restore them. Isaiah knew that restoration would not occur immediately. I think at times we wait wanting immediate restoration to happen.
If we have disobeyed, we often have to wait on the Lord following our repentance. Otherwise, we would treat Him more like a genie in a bottle. Someone we set aside when we want to do things our way and then we would rub the bottle when things go bad. Our wish is to get Him to fix it immediately. And then we would be inclined to go back to our old ways. God knows us, even if we like to think we wouldn’t do this.
Lord when I mess up, help me to wait on You. Help me to know that sometimes I have to walk through the consequences of my sin, even after I have repented. Help me to wait on You faithfully for complete deliverance.
