How many are the days of Your servant?
When will You execute judgment on those who persecute me? Psalm 119:84
I know at times in my life I have wanted justice, revenge and punishment for those hurting me. It is a selfish desire. David cried out for the same, but his cry is against people who are disobeying God, God’s decrees, and God’s instructions. It wasn’t really about David. It was about people disrespecting his God.
I realize this is an Old Testament cry from David. We are under the New Covenant of grace. We know God is not willing that any should perish. I have to be grateful that God was not quick to punish me in my rebellion and disobedience. I am filled with gratitude for His grace and love towards me.
Lord thank You for Your great patience with me. Thank You for Your grace and forgiveness. Thank You for not giving me what I deserve but instead giving Your Son in my place. I will be eternally grateful.
