Moses then said to them, “Wait, and I will listen to what the Lord will command concerning you.”Numbers 9:8

We have a responsibility to those we serve to seek God and listen to what He says. I don’t believe this only applies to pastors and teachers, but in our workplaces and in one-to-one ministry, as well as in our friendships. We need to wait on Him before we speak into the life of others. It is our responsibility to be ready to hear God in the moment, which means not waiting until the need arises to be in communion with Him.
When I first started doing counseling, I provided in-home therapy. I spent a lot of time driving, so I would have time with God in my car as well as in my personal morning quiet time. I remember often feeling frustrated as I would read something that didn’t seem to have relevance in my life. Yet, I would start a session with a client and would see that God had prepared me for the session during my quiet time.
At the time I didn’t really understand, but now I know it was and is Holy Spirit at work in me. Moses didn’t wait long on the Lord to answer. He had been a daily communication with Him. That is an example that we can follow as we minister to people.
Lord, help me not to get in front of You when it comes to speaking into the life of others. I only want to share what You have to say concerning others. In Jesus name amen.
