Wait

10 After waiting another seven days, Noah released the dove again.

12 He waited another seven days and then released the dove again. This time it did not come back. Genesis 8:10, 12

Noah waited for the dove following a set time. At first I thought “how does this apply to my life?” I know I am not facing any floods because I live in the desert. I am not waiting on water to retreat either. Yet, even as I wrote the question, I recognized that the dove represents Holy Spirit.

When I have been through a storm, I need to wait on Holy Spirit. When things don’t seem to pass quickly enough, I need to wait on Holy Spirit. Until He rests, I need to wait on Him.

Sometimes it may feel like I am trapped in a boat, or situation as I am waiting for the storm to pass. It can feel confining to wait on Holy Spirit far everything to settle after the storm is over for Him to release us. When I wait on Holy Spirit though, the circumstances will be right for me to proceed.

Lord, I know I am still learning to wait on You. Help me to know when I need to test the waters to see if it is You time and to know when to step out of the boat!
