Be Anxious for Nothing

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

God wants us to come to Him. So often we worry first and pray second. Imagine if we took this passage for what it says. Be anxious for nothing!

How do we do that?

By giving it to God. What is it? Anything we worry about that we don’t have complete control over. All the wishing, hoping and worrying won’t change a thing. Yet God says in everything by prayer, supplication, and with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Prayer – Strong’s G4335 – proseuchē a house devoted to the offering of prayer to God

Supplication – Strong’s G1162 – deēsis a seeking, asking, entreating request addressed by men to God

Thanksgiving – Strong’s G2169 – eucharistia the giving of thanks

It doesn’t say we have to give thanks for what we are feeling anxious about but that with our prayer we offer thanks. We always have room to be thankful.

Lord, if there is anything that makes me anxious, reveal it to me. LEt me bring my requests to You with Thanksgiving. In Jesus name, Amen.
