Love Dream

Scripture: “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭4‬-‭8‬ ‭‬‬

How this applies to my life: I woke up this morning dreaming of a wedding. A young bride walked down the aisle with her daddy by her side. As they reached the beaming groom, the father walked to a small white box with a glass door that locked. He unlocked the box and took the key and what was inside and addressed the groom.

The father shared that from the moment that he had learned of his daughter’s conception God had placed it on his heart that it was his responsibility to guard His daughter’s heart until this day. Taking this literally, he had placed a symbol of her heart in this locked box as a reminder of His responsibility. Daily he would remind his daughter that she was loved, valuable, and treasured. He was called to protect her heart, speak life into her, and show her what it was like to be loved with the love of God.

Although she will always be loved, valuable, and treasured by her daddy on this wedding day, God showed him from her birth one day he would surrender his job to guard his daughter’s heart to another man. He let the groom know that from this day forward this young groom now had the responsibility to guard his daughter’s heart. He reminded him that he would stand before God one day and give account for how he loved his little girl who would soon be the groom’s wife.

Taking the key, He handed it to the groom. He placed a golden locket inscribed with the above scripture into the groom’s hand. Then he kissed his daughter and turned to sit next to her mother.

The groom slipped the locket around his bride’s neck and quoted the Scripture as He promised to show her and remind her daily that she is loved, valued and treasured not only by her Heavenly Father, by her earthly father, but also by him. The wedding proceeded.
Every woman, really every person deserves to know they are loved, valuable and treasured by their Heavenly Father, by an earthly father, and by a spouse. Even if the latter two don’t happen, God can still speak that truth into their life.

As children of God, we can entrust our heart to Him. He will guard it for us, if we allow Him to and trust Him with it. When we choose to be obedient to Him, His love will not only flow to us, it will flow through us.

Expression back to God: Heavenly Father, thank You for this beautiful dream and the reminder of how much You love and treasure me. Help me to receive Your love, to trust the worth and value that You created in me. Help me to be obedient to You. Let the love that flows from You to me, to flow from me to those around me.
