But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. And have mercy on some, who are doubting; save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh. Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. Jude 1:20-25
We are the beloved of Christ, called to build him ourselves up in his most holy faith by praying in Holy Spirit power and walking and love. These are both dependent upon God working in and through us, but it is intentional on our part. Just as building blocks are intentionally placed together to create something, we must intentionally build our faith through daily practice of being in God’s Word, praying, fellowship and resting in Him. This is how we are come to wait for the return of Christ.
The writer prays that we would be able to have mercy on both the doubting and those who are trapped in sin and that others would be safe from hell. Holy Spirit can keep us from stumbling in our sin and then turn all glory back to God.
Lord I pray to be stirred up in Your most holy faith. I need more Holy Spirit in my life. I know I can do nothing without You, so give me more of You. Use me as You would. Keep me from stumbling as I walk with You, let my life bring You glory. Help me to show mercy and help others turn to You.
