Strength and Power

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.“ ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬-‭21‬ ‭‬‬

I need God’s strength and power in my life, as believers we all do. It is only in Christ, and through Christ that we do the things that He has called us too. He has called us to be rooted and grounded in His love. My love fails daily. Love is perfect because God is love and He desires to fill me of Him. Only then will I be able to ask for the things that line up with His will which is what He desires for me.

Again, this is a prayer Paul was praying for the people of Ephesus. He knew they had needs but also knew that when they had a true revelation of what is available in Christ everything else would fall into place. Not that life is perfect after Christ but when we rest in Him and His strength, power and love we can make it through anything.

When I visited Ephesus we walked through the city ruins of many Greek gods like Artemis or Diana, statues and buildings that were erected for political leaders, grand libraries and theaters for entertainment like gladiator fights. Many things competed for their attention, showing a way to strength, power, and love but God was the single source for them all. When the world tries to pull us to look for these things elsewhere we need to bring our focus back to God.

Lord, thank You for another example of prayer that points to the importance of You in our life. Lord, grant me Your strength and power through Holy Spirit. Help me to be rooted and grounded in Your love and filled with Your fullness. God, have your way in my life.
